ÜBER UNS

Verein Prema

The association Prema stands for development aid, justice and fairness.

The association is a non-profit charitable organization. 100% of the donations go to the charitable projects. The board members of the association Prema all work"voluntarily"and thus no money is spent on administration and can be used for the benefit of the poor children.

The Prema association supports, among other things, the NGO (non-profit organization) “The Society of the Good Shepherd Sisters” in Nagpur, India, which is committed to enabling girls affected by child labor to go to school. The President of Prema used to work on this project on site himself and therefore knows the NGO organization Good Shepherd Sisters personally and can express his full confidence in this organization.

The Prema association has been tax-exempt by the cantonal tax office, so donations can be deducted from taxes.

Would you like to become a member of the association Premato keep girls in India from having to do child labor? Here is a very good opportunity to fight against this evil and do your part.

Child labor can be defined as work that deprives adolescents of their childhood, opportunities and dignity, and which impairs and violates children's physical and mental development. A total of around ten million children between the ages of 5 and 14 work in India, including 5.6 million boys and 4.4 million girls.

Education is an important aspect of growing up as it allows children to acquire skills needed in the modern world.

Child labor at this earlier age prevents children from going to school to acquire these skills. A great deal of pressure is placed on the shoulders of these children, since in most cases there is no further opportunity for the families to earn other incomes.

In addition, the psychological damage is usually just as bad as the physical damage, as it leads to long-term trauma. Children who have experienced severe violence develop mental illnesses such as depression, guilt, anxiety attacks, lack of self-confidence and hopelessness.

Help us with your financial support to free even more children from this evil.Any contribution is welcome. The annual school education of a girl is made possible by a donation of 100 francs. A donation of CHF 1,000 finances the entire school education. We thank you in advance for your donation. Your help counts!

Fr. Plácido Rebelo, president of the Charity Association Prema

I am Fr. Placido Rebelo a catholic priest living and working in Switzerland.

I have had different pastoral roles in the last few years: Migrant pastoral care for Italians, pastor in the city of Zurich and prison chaplain. My pastoral work is based on the principle of one Church and many Languages.

It is my dream to change the lives of the poor girl child laborers in India by providing them the financial support they need to pursue their school education. I am happy to receive your support and help in this humane endeavor.

I was born in Goa India and after successfully earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Arts and Theology as well as a Diploma in Psychology I could in the meantime gather experience in the field of social work especially among the poor child laborers and orphans. A Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Mumbai (January 1995 to December 1997) also deepened my awareness of the number of social injustices facing India. My first building project was that of an orphan house in India among many other things.

In the years following my studies and work in India I had the opportunity to complete a five year’s Master Program in Biblical Exegesis from Rome (October 2004 to October 2009), Italy. This program led me for further semester studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Harvard University of America. These were also years of parish work in Europe and USA.

My founding vision and focus for Verein Prema is the emancipation of those who are abused, oppressed and discriminated by society especially the girl child laborers and women in India.

I am happy to invite you to join me in contributing to the societal transformation by contributing to the education of the girl child laborer in India.

Thank you very much for giving hope and future to the girl child laborers in India.
